INTERNATIONAL FRANCHISING SERVICES
We provide essential services for anyone considering international franchising.

Success in one context does not guarantee success in another. There are large numbers of important factors that need to be considered. Our services and advice cover both importing and exporting franchise systems.

Exporting Franchises
Many of New Zealand's high performing franchises can be modified with great success for markets with larger populations. Taking your franchise offshore, however, requires prudent and careful planning. Many overseas countries have strict franchising laws to comply with. And differences in key areas like population size, dispersion, levels of competition, mean changes must be made to the franchise structure and strategy.

In addition to our own internationally experienced consultants, we are members of a worldwide network of franchise experts. As a consequence, we are able to work with you on any offshore franchising project. Contact us now to arrange a time to discuss your particular needs.

Importing Franchises
A foreign franchise format cannot usually be successfully transferred to the New Zealand environment without some modification. Even franchise formats from Australia (which many consider an identical market) need considerable review before entering New Zealand.

Some excellent Australian franchise systems have failed spectacularly in New Zealand precisely because they did not adapt to the local market. For example, some clauses common in Australian franchise agreements are not acceptable to prospective New Zealand franchisees - which in turn has a negative affect on franchise sales. Incorrect assumptions or oversights are also commonly made relating to the New Zealand market. In particular, mistakes are often made structuring territories, due to New Zealand's high levels of both geographic and population dispersion.

If you are considering importing an overseas franchise system please do contact us. You will likely need help evaluating the opportunity and ensuring any necessary changes are negotiated and made to the franchise agreement (usually a master franchise agreement) before signing.

If you are contemplating or involved in international franchising, please phone +64 (0) 9 523 3858 or email us to see how we may be of assistance to you.
